OBJETIVO: Que el estudiante incorpore conceptos básicos sobre el origen, evolución, diversidad, manejo y estudio de Amphibia (anfibios) y Reptilia a su preparación especializada en temas de herpetología.
MÉTODO DOCENTE: Curso teórico–práctico, exposición de tópicos (profesores), participación de alumno en prácticas de laboratorio y de campo.
EVALUACIÓN: Participación oral en clase, revisión de lecturas, tareas, prácticas (laboratorio y campo), seminarios y exámenes escritos.
TEMARIO: 1.- Introducción. a) Historia de la herpetología, b) Estado actual de la conservacion de la biodiversidad de anfibios y reptiles. 2.- Origen y evolución de Amphibia y Reptilia (Sauropsida) Tetrápodos Grupos basales de Amphibia Amniotas Grupos basales de Reptilia, Evolución de Reptilia (Parareptiles/Anápsidos//Diápsidos/Aves). 3.- Lissamphibia. a) Diagnosis, filogenia, distribución, conducta, desarrollo, ecología, historia natural y diversidad de: Urodela/Caudata (Salamandras/Tritones/Ajolotes) Gymnophiona (Cecilias) Anura (Ranas/Sapos), b) Declinación de los Lissamphibia Valor, Capital natural, Servicios ambientales. 4.- Reptilia a) Diagnosis, filogenia, distribución, conducta, desarrollo, ecología, historia natural y diversidad de: Chelonia/Testudines (Tortugas) Crocodylia (Cocodrilos/Caimanes/Gaviales) Rhynchocephalia (Tuátara) Squamata (Lagartijas/Serpientes/Anfisbénidos), b) Grupos vulnerables y en extinción, Valor, Capital natural, Servicios ambientales. 5.- Herpetología en la práctica y vida diaria, Educación ambiental, Normas/Convenciones (estatus de las especies): NOM-059, IUCN, CITES, Prácticas de campo y colecta (Normatividad, Gestión, Colecta, Transporte, Ética de usos), Colecciones científicas (En México y el mundo, Curaduría, Fijación, Catálogo, Determinación), Acervos vivos (Experimentación, Crianza, Manejo, Cuidado, Sanidad), Comercio, Tráfico, Especies invasoras, Contaminación biológica, Conservación (Legislación, Programas, Aprovechamiento).
