OBJETIVO: Que el estudiante incorpore principales conceptos sobre origen, evolución, diversidad, manejo y estudio de anfibios y reptiles. MÉTODO DOCENTE: Curso teórico-práctico, exposicion de tópicos (profesores), participación de alumnos en prácticas de laboratorio y campo. EVALUACIÓN: Participación oral en clase, revisión de lecturas, Tareas y prácticasexamenes escritos. TEMARIO: 1.- Introducción. La herpetología y conceptos científicos. Historia de la herpetología (México y otros países)2.- Origen y evolución: Amphibia y Reptilia. Tetrápodos. Amniotas. 3.- Lissamphibia. Generales: origen, diagnosis, filogenia, distribución, desarrollo, conducta, fisiología y ecología. Urodela (Salamandras/Tritones/Ajolotes). Gymnophiona (Cecilias). Anura (Ranas/Sapos). Declinación de Amphibia. Valor, capital natural, servicios ambientales. 4.-Reptilia. Características generales: origen, diagnosis, filogenia, distribución, desarrollo, conducta fisiología y ecología. Chelonia/Testudines (Tortugas). Crocodylia (Cocodrilos/Caimanes/Gaviales). Rhynchocephalia (Tuátara).Squamata (Lagartijas, Serpientes y Anfisbénidos). Grupos vulnerables y en extinción. Valor, capital natural, servicios ambientales. 5.- Biodiversidad de herpetozoos en México. Biogeografía, regiones, endemismos. Normas/Convenciones (estatus de las especies): NOM-059, IUCN, CITES. Comercio y tráfico. Conservación (educación, legislación, programas, aprovechamiento). 6.- Prácticas. Colecciones científicas/Acervos vivos (manejo, cuidado, sanidad). De campo (gestiones de ley, colecta, transporte) De curaduría (fijar, catalogar, determinar).
