Objetivos
1) Que el estudiante conozca la diversidad estructural, metabólica y de ambientes en
los que habitan los grupos de protozoarios y algas microscópicas y macroscópicas.
2) Que el estudiante ubique los cambios evolutivos de mayor significado en estos
grupos para comprender sus relaciones filogenéticas.
3) Que el estudiante relacione la evolución de los protozoarios y algas con la evolución
de los vegetales, animales y fungales más complejos.
4) Que el estudiante se entrene en el manejo de material vivo y preservado de
protozoarios y algas.
Metodología de la enseñanza:
Curso teórico-práctico.
Presentación oral del profesor apoyado por material audiovisual.
Análisis y discusión de artículos con la participación activa de los alumnos.
Aplicar los conocimientos teóricos del curso a problemas reales de aproximación a
través de salidas al campo y en el laboratorio.
Evaluación del curso:

1. CONCEPTO DE DOMINIO O REINO: DIVERSIDAD Y UNIDAD EN LAS CÉLULAS
EUCARIONTES, ALGAS Y PROTOZOARIOS) 12 h.
1.1. Características de unidad y diversidad de la célula eucarionte y procarionte:
estructura, metabolismo, diversificación.
1.2. Definición de protistas, protoctistas, protozoarios y algas.
1.3. Dominios, Reinos, grupos y categorías taxonómicas.
1.3.1 Reino, categorías superiores y su validez

1.3.2 División y Phyla. Principales características
1.4. Los primeros seres vivos y la aparición de los grupos principales de organismos
autótrofos-heterótrofos, simbiontes-asimbiontes y de vida libre-parásitos.
1.5. Caracterización general de las condiciones biológicas y la diversidad de organismos
procariontes en el tiempo de aparición de los eucariontes.
1.6. Características de unidad y diversidad de los protozoarios y algas: niveles de
organización, metabolismo y reproducción.
2. DIVERSIDAD DE PROTISTAS Y ALGAS 18 h.
Características biológicas de los grupos incluidos en los Protistas y Algas, ejemplos y
discusión sobre los criterios de separación entre los niveles taxonómicos relevantes. Se
presenta un panorama general de las condiciones ecológicas en las que viven. Se discuten
las vías evolutivas probables y las explicaciones de la diversidad dentro del grupo. Se anota
la importancia socio-económica.
